Youth Camp on Awabakal Land

Last month ten young Aboriginal men met on Awabakal land to connect to self, community and culture.

The camp – provided by Winanga-y Dreaming in collaboration with We Care NSW – was designed with empowerment and growth front of mind.

The group connected through the leadership of Roo, Cody and Josh at various locations of Yamuloong, Glenrock and Mt Yengo, with the camp program including:

• Kinship
• Dance and songs, including a Corroboree
• Language and identity
• Demonstrations of Aboriginal artefacts and tools
• Discussions
• Workshops – native plants, weaving, artwork
• Tours of significant Aboriginal sites.

The feedback was amazing, the guys absolutely loved it and we look forward to the next camp in 2022. Show your interest in attending future camps at https://pages.wecarensw.com.au/yarn-up-youth-camp-0
