Callaghan College Waratah Technology Campus — Aboriginal logo story

At Callaghan College Waratah Technology Campus, we actively promote cultural pride and identity amongst all our students, particularly our identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

We have our own community-developed logo for Aboriginal education and a number of our identified students and staff members proudly have it embroidered on their school shirts. This logo was developed in 2006 by Reggie Walker, the nephew of Aunty Janette Lancaster who was our Aboriginal Community mentor at that time. The centre of the logo represents our school and the colours represent our Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community. The pathways leading to the centre represent that we have all come from many different places to be at CCWTC.

This logo is offered to incoming Year 7 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students free of charge and it is subsidised for the identified students in Years 8, 9 and 10.
